APPLICATIONS

ZIGRID produce electricity from low grade heat from industries, green hydrogen production and power production sites.

PULP AND PAPER INDUSTRY

The pulp and paper industries have a history of efficient use of resources where residual biomass is used to produce power and heat. Power for internal use and heat, where possible, is delivered to local district heating during part of the year. However, there is still plenty of waste heat, particularly in temperatures below 90°C.

ZIGRID’s modular design makes it easy to be implemented as one or multiple power units depending on available heat flows. As ZIGRID uses heat for power production the need for separate cooling is reduced, thus saving costs while still meeting environmental regulations.

GREEN HYDROGEN PRODUCTION

The green hydrogen industry is growing world wide with production plans for both direct use in industries such as steel production, as well as hydrogen storage for conversion to electricity. The green hydrogen production process produces a lot of residual heat between 80-60°C which is ideal for ZIGRID.

With ZIGRID, it’s easier to offset the residual heat and also integrate ZIGRID’s return energy streams for industrial symbiosis initiatives such as green houses and fish farms.

STEEL AND ALUMINUM INDUSTRY

The steel and aluminum industries are the primary contributors to global waste heat as well as CO2 emissions. In these industries there are massive opportunities to save energy – and money – by utilizing that heat, also below 90°C.

ZIGRID’s modular design makes it easy to be implemented as one or multiple power units depending on available heat flows. As ZIGRID uses heat for power production the need for separate cooling is reduced, thus saving costs while still meeting environmental regulations.
